Sergio Hudson’s SS23 offering was all about vibrant, bold, popping colours. Coming in an array of kinder hues from cobalt and ultraviolet to chartreuse, fuchsia and crimson, the entire offering was as lively as it gets. But as the muscular models with Debbie Harry-like locks and Dolly Parton up-dos stomped down the catwalk, the effervescence eventually dissolved into demure navy blues, blacks and eggshell whites with added classic graphics like polka dots, stripes and sharp colour blocking. Between the vibrant dresses and the monochromatic co-ords, slinky golden leopard-print silk dresses dragged along the inky floor, luscious velvet stilettos matched delicate velvet cardigans, and form-fitting catsuits added something a little saucy – Hudson’s glamorous girls bore smokey eyes, black as night, that looked slept in. With every fiery look, the zeitgeist of the disco days felt alive and well.
It was a lesson in power dressing for the modern woman, boasting shoulder pads and dynamic suiting for working 9-to-5 or staying out till the sun comes up; whatever your calling may be, Sergio Hudson has a stylish, transferable solution.
