They’re Superfine: Met Gala 2025’s Best-Dressed

Louis Vuitton by Pharrell Williams was the big winner of the night.

Despite the rainy weather, the most important Monday in May went off without a hitch as the stars descended upon the Met Gala 2025 red carpet. The dress code for tonight? Tailored For You, as inspired by this year’s Costume Institute exhibit Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. Celebrating the Black dandy and his influence on fashion over the last 300 years, guests showed off their best interpretations of the theme. Against the daffodil printed carpet inside the tent, white suiting was the big trend, with the likes of Zendaya, Lewis Hamilton, Laura Harrier, and Pharrell Williams among the many who opted for the look. Speaking of Williams, his designs for Louis Vuitton were the big winner of the night as seen on everyone from Lisa to Sabrina Carpenter to Pusha T — no surprise as the brand was this year’s fashion sponsor. And it would not be a Met Gala Monday without one viral moment, although this year’s wasn’t technically at the museum’s famous steps. Rihanna, who made a fashionably late arrival, surprised everyone with a pregnancy reveal hours earlier.

See who made our best dressed list below — it’s a little more than our usual top 10 because the looks were that good.

1. RIHANNA IN MARC JACOBS AND CARTIER JEWELRY; A$AP ROCKY IN AWGE

As co-chair, A$AP Rocky was on the carpet bright and early clad in a custom design from his label AWGE, made in conjunction with stylist Matthew Henson. After hours of speculation, Rihanna did indeed join him, showcasing her pregnancy in a tailored Marc Jacobs look that perfectly complemented her partner’s suit.

2. DOECHII IN LOUIS VUITTON BY PHARELL WILLIAMS, TIFFANY & CO. JEWELRY

The Grammy Award winner made her Met Gala debut in a monogram shorts suit that directly referenced Professor Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity,

3. ZENDAYA IN LOUIS VUITTON BY PHARELL WILLIAMS

Before walking up the Met steps Zendaya fangirled over Diana Ross (like all of us!) as she wore a white three piece suit that nodded to Ross’ character from Mahogany

4. COLMAN DOMINGO IN MAISON VALENTINO, BOUCHERON JEWELRY, OMEGA WATCHES

The Met Gala co-chair and Valentino ambassador arrived in a blue cape, paying homage to Andre Léon Talley before revealing a second look consisting of a suit paired with a black polka dot tie and matching flower.

5. LEWIS HAMILTON AND FKA TWIGS IN WALES BONNER

Grace Wales Bonner has a way with honoring history while still creating fresh, modern, and poetic looks. Case in point: Lewis Hamilton’s suit with embellishment that referenced royalty and FKA Twigs’ dress that recalled Josephine Baker.

6. DIANA ROSS IN UGO MOZIE

The iconic singer attended the gala for the first time in 22 years making a splashy comeback with an 18 foot train embroidered with the names of her children and grandchildren.

7. GABRIELLE UNION AND DWAYNE WADE IN PRADA AND TIFFANY & CO. JEWELRY

Who better to embody the glamour of the Harlem Renaissance than these two?

8. JANELLE MONAE AND WALTON GOGGINS IN THOM BROWNE

Given that it’s a year on tailoring, of course Thom Browne was going to have a big showing as well. For Monae, her look was created in conjunction with Oscar-winning costume designer Paul Tazewell. The deconstructed suit referenced the movie Metropolis, while the derby hat was inspired by blues singer Gladys Bentley. As for Goggins, his skirt and blazer ensemble was pure joy as seen in the way he twirled on the carpet.

9. AYO EDEBERI IN FERRAGAMO

Edebiri cited her father, who hails from Nigeria, as the source of inspiration behind her custom look by Maximilian Davis for Ferragamo. Featuring intricate coral beading, it drew from traditional Edo attire.

10. LAURA HARRIER IN GAPSTUDIO BY ZAC POSEN, ZAC POSEN IN BANANA REPUBLIC

Posen might be a familiar Met Gala red carpet name but this marks the first time he’s created a women’s trouser design. Featuring a sculpted raw denim vest and duchess satin tailor pants, Harrier’s look was also inspired by photos of her father and grandfather in suiting.

11. JENNIE IN CHANEL

The K-Pop idol perfectly embodied the evening’s theme in a black-and-white custom look that referenced tuxedo dressing.

12. MILEY CYRUS IN ALAÏA AND CARTIER

On a night when the theme was Tailored For You, this impeccably cut Alaia jacket and skirt was another way to interpret the dress code successfully.
